چکیده
The use of networks wireless active implantable medical devices (AIMDs) could revolutionize the way that numerous severe illnesses are treated. However, development sub-mm AIMDs is hindered by bulkiness and transmission range consolidated power transfer (WPT) methods exhibit. aim this work to numerically study illustrate potential an innovative WPT technique based on volume conduction at high frequencies for powering AIMDs. In technique, frequency currents coupled into tissues through external electrodes, producing electric field can be partially picked-up thin, flexible, elongated implants. present study, system formed implants was modeled as a two-port impedance network. parameters model were obtained using numerical solver finite element method (fem). used determine delivered implants’ load (PDL) efficiency (PTE) system. results allow identification main features influence PDL PTE in scenario demonstrate basis non-focalized powers above milliwatts multiple mm-sized (< 10 mm 3 ) placed several centimeters (>3 cm) inside tissues.

Ultrasonic transcutaneous energy transfer for powering implanted devices.
This paper investigates ultrasonic transcutaneous energy transfer (UTET) as a method for energizing implanted devices at power level up to a few 100 mW. We propose a continuous wave 673 kHz single frequency operation to power devices implanted up to 40 mm deep subcutaneously. The proposed UTET demonstrated an overall peak power transfer efficiency of 27% at 70 mW output power (rectified DC powe...

We obtain an analytical bound on the efficiency of wireless power transfer to a weakly coupled device. The optimal source is solved for a multilayer geometry in terms of a representation based on the field equivalence principle. The theory reveals that optimal power transfer exploits the properties of the midfield to achieve efficiencies far greater than conventional coil-based designs. As a ph...
